Villa Efe by Akdenizvillam

The location made our holiday easy, with markets, greengrocers, and butchers nearby. Pasaport Pizza delivers right to the villa and has great service. The owner was also quick to reply to messages and helpful, so our stay was trouble-free. The villa has its own parking, and the rooms, pool, and view are all extraordinary. The only hassle was driving up and down the ramp in our low car.

The landlord's responses after we posted our review were rude. He messaged us on Instagram with impolite comments, then sent a WhatsApp message along the lines of, "That's what you get for this price." At 9:30 PM he called and said, "Kalkan won't sink if you don't come, don't come to my villa." The shower temperature was unstable too: it could suddenly turn ice cold, then boiling hot about 15 seconds later. There was a very bad smell from the toilet, and the jacuzzi had no hot water until it was full. The pool is described as heated, but during our five sunny days at 18-degree weather it stayed at 18 degrees, even with the heating on. It apparently doesn't warm up unless the air temperature is above 20 degrees.

The owner's manner when we raised problems was awful. We were told, "We'd be honored if you never came back to Kalkan again," and, "That's all you get for this price." The jacuzzi had too little hot water to fill it before it ran out, and the shower could swing from freezing to scalding with no stable temperature. There was a nasty smell from the toilet, and the pool wasn't heated, so don't choose this place expecting a heated pool outside summer. The owner also suggested there was a hidden camera in the house so he could see our every move, and implied he'd entered while we were out. He claimed we'd left the UFO heater on while we were away. If you complain about a bad experience, be ready for rude replies.

The markets are really close, and there’s a security system that made us feel comfortable sleeping and going out. As a family, our first reaction was that we didn't feel like strangers at all. The house had everything we needed.
