Villa Tanyeli 1

We stayed at Villa Tenyali 1 for 10 days, from 22 Sep to 9 Oct, and wanted to share an honest account. The villa is about a 25-minute walk from Kalkan Town centre, up quite a hill, or a 200 TL taxi ride. There are also several restaurants, bars and shops nearby. We arrived late on Monday and things seemed fine at first. In daylight, though, we found a number of issues. Both rain shower heads in the double rooms were split and spraying water from the sides, so neither could be used. I contacted Jet 2 straight away, but it took almost two days for someone to replace them. The en suite shower in the twin room worked, but ideally four adults shouldn't have to share one shower. The top floor bathroom door handle felt ready to come off and the door couldn't be shut. The smoke alarms weren't attached to the ceiling, just left on the staircase window sills without batteries. We also couldn't use the large Jacuzzi bath in the first floor double because there wasn't a bath or sink plug anywhere in the villa. The safe wouldn't lock, so the maintenance person gave us the master key to lock it. The outside area was the biggest letdown. The advertising photos seem to show the property when it was new and no longer reflect how it looks. The swing chair had been put in a dark, shaded corner where we didn't want to sit. The outdoor dining and cooking setup was dreadful: a cheap plastic table and chairs on patchy grass, which turned muddy after a couple of days of very heavy rain, and a BBQ that needed a thorough clean. The sun loungers were fine and the pool was cleaned daily, but the water was very cold. We didn't use the swing chair, patio furniture or BBQ. The roof terrace gets afternoon sun, which was great, but the only access is through a door from the top floor bedroom. That means other guests have to walk through someone's room, and an outside staircase would help. We enjoyed our time in Kalkan, but the villa needs quite a bit of care and attention, and the listing photos should be updated because they no longer give a fair picture. We plan to return to Kalkan, but won't stay at Villa Tenyali 1 again.
