What stayed with me most was how they care for animals adopted from shelters. The love and compassion they show them makes Monk feel like a conscientious place to live, not just a business. The owners are sincere, attentive, and quick to find solutions, even with small issues, and their genuine, professional approach made us feel comfortable. Monk Livingspace was well placed in the center and convenient for getting around. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days and were generally satisfied, though there were some clear shortcomings. Cobwebs were everywhere, the old bed was uncomfortable with wires digging into us, and the pool water was too cool for the first two days. The owners made an effort to address things, and later warmed the pool. There was also a cigarette smell, so the house needs better ventilation. Their attentiveness and willingness to solve problems were positives. With a few improvements, we think it could be a much more enjoyable place to stay.

The staff were warm and friendly, and breakfast was just right. The house and its location were excellent, but the cleanliness was disappointing. We visited in August hoping to relax, then found a stone house covered in cobwebs and full of insects. The pool was small, so it may not suit anyone with high expectations for it.

We stayed in Monk1, the large house with a garden, and found everything we needed there. The air conditioning and TV were great, the complimentary items were generous, and they always brought coffee after breakfast. There are plenty of markets and restaurants nearby, plus everything for a barbecue. If you don't know how to light one, the staff will even do it for you. The open-air cinema was a hit: they offer three film choices, show whichever gets the most votes, and include popcorn. Since the staff are a family, the place felt friendly and trustworthy, and they kept checking whether we needed anything. They also took my camera worries seriously, warning us when drone filming was happening so we could leave the garden if needed. I have a phobia of dogs, and they kept their two adorable little dogs away whenever they saw me. When I was cold, they turned on the heated pool early; later, when it got too hot, they lowered the temperature. They solved our problems right away throughout the five-day stay, which we spent at the quiet end of the season. The only real hassle was finding the entrance, especially at night. It's set back along the road, and they said legal restrictions meant they couldn't put up a sign farther away. We got used to it by the second day. We were so satisfied we waited until the end of the trip to write this detailed review. You can go without a doubt in your mind. :)
