The grounds and pool were well looked after, and the hotel was quiet enough for us to sleep well, despite being able to hear the nearby minaret. We stayed four nights at Orino Suites hotel. Our second-floor room was generally clean, but there was black mold in the bathroom and dirty spots near the mirror. There was a constant mold and sewage smell, and we could hear the shower in the neighboring room, so we asked to move. The manager, who spoke English and was only there occasionally, agreed to arrange it the next day, but the staff never followed through. We didn’t want more trouble during our holiday, so we let it go. The young man who was there consistently spoke almost no English. He served standard Turkish breakfasts that were satisfactory, though not like the photos we’d seen in Google reviews. On the first day, we got a small pan of scrambled eggs and asked for Turkish coffee with milk. The next morning we used Google Translate to request two portions of scrambled eggs. Near the end of breakfast, the manager showed up with coffee from a machine and asked guests how they wanted their eggs. That’s when we learned hard-boiled eggs were available too. In the evenings, the young man often played mobile video games or watched football on the TV in the yard at high volume. One night we were utterly exhausted and asked him to turn it down, as the sound carried through the yard. On our final evening, we came back around 8pm and found 1-2cm of water on the floor. Our suitcases, which we’d left on the floor, were already wet. We used Google Translate to ask the young man for another room. He offered the adjacent one, but that room was partly flooded too. When we asked for a dry room, he said there were no other clean rooms available. The hotel seemed to have around 10-15 rooms, and we’d seen only three other couples. We reluctantly accepted. The room had been partly cleaned after the previous guests, with fresh linen and towels and a washed floor, but the toilet and sink were dirty. There was mold and an even stronger sewer smell. The young man mopped the floor before we moved, but nobody apologized or helped us, and he promptly went back to his mobile game. We tried to discuss everything with the manager at checkout, but he wasn’t there. Other problems: the door handles squeaked loudly, so quiet nighttime trips to the toilet were nearly impossible. The Wi-Fi signal was too weak in our room, and we had to run the cold water for several minutes before getting hot water, though the pressure was good. The bathroom only had an overhead shower and a tap, and the TV was small and outdated. Our room wasn’t cleaned at all during the stay.
