Berceste Residence

My wife and I stayed here for two nights while sightseeing. The rooms are spacious for a hotel, more like small 1+1 apartments, with kitchen counters, stoves, and cabinets. The design is attractive, the staff were very helpful and communicated well, and parking was easy thanks to the large lot. We liked the roomy location, away from the city’s chaos but still close enough. We visited in cool March weather and the heating worked very well. For the price, it’s reasonable. We had a few problems, especially with cigarette smoke. The first room smelled so strongly that it burned my nose and gave me a headache. We aired it out for an hour, but the smell had sunk into the walls and fabrics. When the air conditioning didn’t help, we asked to switch rooms. The staff kindly arranged it, but the second room still smelled of smoke, though less, and at least it didn’t give me a headache. Other reviews mention this too, and it could be a real ordeal for non-smoking families. The place should address it. There weren’t enough outlets, so we charged one phone in the bedroom and the other from the kettle’s outlet in the kitchen. The rooms we stayed in had no air conditioning, which would be useful in summer. A small table for drinks in the lounge would help, and although there are kitchen cabinets, they’re empty and not useful. Even a few cardboard plates and plastic forks and spoons would be welcome.

We’d come for a family skiing holiday, but my wife and daughter didn’t have their IDs with us. Even though we’d traveled a long way, the staff clearly said we couldn’t stay and didn’t offer any alternatives. They weren’t interested when I offered to show a copy of my birth certificate. The way they handled it was unpleasant.

The rooms are standard and have a kitchenette. I noticed a little cigarette smell as soon as we went in, which I really dislike and counts as a clear downside for me. The kettle lid was filthy too. I took points off for those two things.

This is a clean, tidy residence, and the service and attention to detail are top-notch. Any problems get sorted out right away. The staff are so respectful, kind, and friendly. Special thanks to Mr. Hasan at reception ☺️
