Wyndham Grand Kayseri Hotel

The upstairs restaurant was somewhat nice, but that’s about the only praise I have. Breakfast was mediocre, though acceptable if you’re hungry after skiing. The pool and gym looked better in photos than they were in person, and the room was poor too, with a TV that seemed from the 90s, almost no working channels, and no features like Bluetooth or apps. My friend’s watch went missing, and we believe housekeeping had access to the room. Even after we searched it thoroughly, staff wouldn’t cooperate by sharing camera footage or key logs. Housekeepers repeatedly closed my bag and shifted dirty clothes around inside. I complained twice, but it kept happening. Staff spoke almost no English, so trying to deal with any concern became a frustrating game of charades and misunderstandings. Even the reception desk couldn’t help with something as simple as a paper clip. I showed a photo, but I don’t know whether they didn’t have one, didn’t understand, or didn’t want to help. Luggage is left in an open lobby area without a guard, so anyone coming in off the street could take it. That’s not what I’d expect from an American hotel chain. The five-star label really doesn’t fit. If you’re visiting Kayseri, there are better options.

I forgot some things in my room, and the reception called me right away. Șeyma and Elif were both so helpful and took great care of me during my stay. I had a great time at the hotel, and would definitely recommend it. I’ll stay here again when I next visit Kayseri.

The staff, breakfast buffet, and dinner were all really good, so I wish I could rate the hotel five stars. But our room was at 26.5 degrees C/80 degrees F in November, and we were told we couldn’t turn the heat down because it’s controlled centrally all winter. The shared areas felt like a reasonable temperature, so I don’t understand why our room was so hot.

DISASTER. The only thing I found even halfway decent was the upstairs restaurant. Everything else was a failure. Breakfast was mediocre, the pool and gym looked like luxury in the photos but were terrible in person, and the room was old and outdated. The TV looked like it belonged in the 1990s, barely worked, and had no apps, Bluetooth, or other modern features. My watch was stolen from my room. Housekeeping were the only people with access, but when I reported it, the hotel showed no urgency or accountability. They wouldn’t seriously check the cameras or share key-card logs, and acted as if it was my problem. The staff spoke almost no English, so explaining that personal property was stolen turned into a ridiculous mess of gestures and confusion. The front desk was no help, even with basic requests. The luggage storage was in an open, unguarded part of the lobby. Anyone could come in off the street and take your things. No supervision, no bellhop. For a hotel calling itself luxury, that’s embarrassing and dangerous. Housekeeping also kept opening my bag, moving my things, and tossing dirty clothes around. I complained, but nothing changed. There was no respect for guests or their belongings. This is by far the worst so-called five-star hotel I’ve stayed at, and I’ve stayed in some great ones. Don’t be fooled by the rating. It felt unsafe, badly run, and completely unprofessional. If you value your belongings, your time, or common sense, stay somewhere else. There are much better options.
