Kemer Hotel

This is really no luxury hotel. We had ground floor room 411, with a terrace looking onto the street. The bathroom smelled constantly, and the air freshener meant to cover it didn't work. The towel hook had been torn off the wall. The air conditioning was very weak. I had to set it to 16 degrees and maximum speed just to keep the room around 22 degrees. The restaurant isn't Michelin-starred, but the food is edible. The menu lacks variety, and food left over from previous guests was often brought back to the table after being reworked. Some guests' complaints about the bakery price are only partly fair. They put it out fresh, but guests don't bother covering it, so it dries out quickly.

The location made this a great base in Kemer. The marina is right across the street, the pebble beach and clear water are about a five-minute walk away, and the centre, restaurants, shopping centre and bank ATM are just as close. I stayed a week all-inclusive and really enjoyed it. The family-run hotel is small, with comfortable rooms, good air conditioning, international TV channels and comfortable beds. Meals had plenty of choice, including for vegetarians; the fresh salads were especially good and the hot dishes changed daily. The bar is small, and the all-inclusive drinks are wine, beer and soft drinks. The light, tasty beer was just right in the heat. Staff were attentive and helpful, and the owner-manager kept an eye on things. The pool is modest but suits the hotel, with plenty of loungers and a well-kept surrounding area. It was a welcome break from the Turkish sun.

The location is excellent and the food was delicious, with everything tasting very good. Still, there were several problems. Our room wasn't clean when we arrived: there was a cigarette butt in the ashtray and sand in the shower. The prepaid internet barely worked in the room. After the cleaner changed the towels, a bag of bath items disappeared. It had been hanging on the shower door handle and held expensive shampoo that can't be bought in Turkey, razors and suntan oil. The cleaner may have picked it up by accident, but the administration made no effort to look for it and didn't even apologize. That felt really unpleasant.

The hotel's location is good, but the rest of my experience was awful. The food made me sick, the rooms weren't cleaned, and you have to pay for internet even though it sometimes doesn't work. Our air conditioning was broken, too. The workers kept asking me and my family personal questions that made us uncomfortable.
