Golden Gate

The photos online, including the ones on the booking site, don't show what the hotel is really like. In person, the pools are too small, and the building is old and poorly maintained. There's no parking, no minibar in the rooms, and the food is really bad. After a seven-hour journey, we arrived with two babies who hadn't eaten since morning. The staff left us waiting in the lobby. That was such a poor level of service. I've never been this disappointed with a hotel, and if you're considering it because it's cheap, there are nicer places nearby at similar prices.

There was no food available when we arrived at 1:30 in the morning after travelling all day, and nowhere to buy water. The rooms were very basic, and the floor was filthy. My kids' socks were disgusting after they'd been in the room for about a minute. There wasn't any atmosphere either. Ali at the small restaurant was very helpful, but I wouldn't consider booking here again.

The staff were nice, and the hotel was clean, though old-fashioned. It's fairly close to the beach, around 400 metres, I'd say. But the room had no fridge, even though it was supposed to, and the Wi-Fi didn't work. The menu was very limited. We only had breakfast included, but after three days we started going to a restaurant in the mornings. It was also noisy: the old wooden doors had no insulation, so cleaning machines woke us up in the morning and partying neighbours kept us up at night.

The air conditioning didn't work, and the bathrooms were ancient and rusty. The hotel is old-fashioned, unclean and has very few food options. The staff weren't kid-friendly either. I regret staying here. There are nearby apartments that are much better and more up to date than this so-called hotel. Stay away!
