De Mari̇a Konaği

The terrace was a great place to catch the sunset, though it got a bit cold at night, so bring warm clothes. We found this guesthouse by chance and stayed as a couple. It’s tucked away from the bazaar noise but close enough to walk there and enjoy Mardin’s streets, and we had no trouble with parking. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the room, carpets, and freshly ironed sheets were all spotless. There was a slight smell from the stone floor, but it didn’t bother us. Breakfast was filling and enough for us. We paid 7,000.00 TL for a room for four. I’d definitely stay again if I came to Mardin.

We were very pleased with the service, especially Ms. Arife, who looked after us and tried to help with everything. Everyone was cheerful and helpful, and the hotel felt calm and peaceful. The rooms were very clean, including the new, well-kept, hygienic sinks and bathrooms. The beds were new and comfortable too. It’s well placed for sightseeing, with 1st Street about a 5-6 minute walk away. You can’t drive right up to the hotel, so we left the car near the school and walked around 5 minutes, which seems normal for old Mardin. Breakfast was fairly standard and could be a little better, but the stay was clean, tidy, and pleasant.

We were very happy with our stay at De Maria Hotel in the center of Mardin, and I’d choose it again. It’s truly clean, from the kitchen to the rooms, and the staff’s attention stood out after we’d seen other hotels. The rooms were airy and spacious, and the authentic breakfast area was lovely and adequate. Breakfast time had passed, but Mr. Yusuf and the staff still helped us get some, even though we hadn’t insisted. They also had electric heaters, nightlights, blankets, duvets, and comforters, options that can be hard to find elsewhere. The air conditioning worked really well. There was parking, which makes sense given the parking issues at hotels in and around Mardin.

We stayed as a family last week and left really pleased. Everything is within walking distance, and the rooms were spotless. The staff were friendly, and the owner, Mr. Yusuf, was especially attentive and helped us with everything we needed to know about Mardin. If you’re planning a visit, I’d say go without hesitation.
