Club Alpina Apartments

The little shop at the front had excellent prices, and its staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional. The hotel posted a sign by the pool saying the shop had a separate owner and guests shouldn’t bring its goods to the pool. People were buying things there because they cost much less than at the hotel’s pool bar. It felt sad that the hotel was trying to police this, and people largely ignored the sign. I don’t blame them. The balcony air conditioning unit blew hot air outside, so it wasn’t possible to sit out there even briefly while keeping the room cool. Our toilet was broken and water ran into the bowl constantly. During darts by the pool, everyone was having a good time until staff insisted that anyone who missed the board would be thrown into the pool. When I missed, they pressured me to jump in or be thrown. I have a massive fear of water, can’t swim, and get anxious just thinking about it. It was unnecessary to embarrass me in front of other guests. They didn’t try to push me in, luckily, but they did with others. After that I felt uncomfortable around the pool and staff, and didn’t join any more games or activities. They even moved the board and nudged your arm to make you miss. Others might find that fun, but water and I don’t mix. Staff could have handled it differently instead of belittling me. I was quite disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The room was a good size, but cleaning was very poor during our nine-night stay. The beds were made and bins emptied, but the floors weren’t swept or washed once in eight days, and the toilet wasn’t cleaned at all. I ended up buying bleach and using wipes myself. On day two I asked reception for two extra pillows, and I’m still waiting for Mr grumpy to arrange them. This wasn’t our first time here, and our other stays were better. Sorry club alpina, I don’t think we’ll be back.

There was a nice hairdresser, and the clean pool and fun slides never felt too crowded. I always found a sunbed. The room was nice, with a clean bathroom and towels. My criticism is the lack of WiFi in the room. I had to go to the pool area to get online or pay for data.

A few things to know: it’s an older hotel, but kept clean. Air con costs extra and is only in the living room. The entertainment is so-so, drinks and the shop are expensive, and people put towels on sunbeds the night before then don’t show up until midday. The hotel doesn’t do anything about it. The beach is a 30-minute walk away, but Club Alpina guests get free sunbeds there and drinks are cheaper. I’d call this an okay hotel, 3 out of 5. In Marmaris, food and drinks at the marina are better than at the beach, at similar prices. Taxi drivers make up prices, so bargain them down. Shops have prices marked, but you can haggle a little. I noticed people try to mug you off if you let them. Hope this helps, have a great holiday.
