Mehtap Family Hotel

I'd recommend this hotel if you're looking for a good deal near the beach, bars, and local shops. My room was cleaned every day, with fresh sheets and bath towels. The staff were all lovely and welcoming, especially Metehan. He was always smiling, and we became great friends during my stay. The people and hospitality are what I like most about visiting new places. I'll definitely come back with my little girl.

The shower problem was the worst part of our stay. On the first day there was no water, and the maintenance worker reception promised never came. We had to make do with a cold shower. The next day was no better, and my five-year-old was so put off by the freezing water that they didn't want to shower. Staff seemed to avoid us after that. I eventually refused to leave reception until they found us a warm shower in A block, even though our room was in B block. After I raised the issue with the resort representative, we were moved to C block the following day. The water there was still only lukewarm, though bearable. Other guests said they had the same problem. If you don't mind a cold shower after a day at the beach, you might be fine here. Our room floors were also dirty and clearly hadn't been mopped. My feet and socks got filthy. Staff were friendly when we ate or drank at the hotel, but became unwelcoming when we complained or didn't use their facilities. I've never met staff who seemed so rude and two-faced. The rooms also aren't clean enough for me, and I wouldn't want to spend all day by the pool or feel monitored when going out to eat and explore. If you just need a cheap place to sleep and plan to stay on site, you may feel differently. For us, this was the worst hotel I've stayed in, and I wouldn't recommend it to families with young children.

We stayed August 18-25 with my six-year-old. The location worked well: shops are close, and it's about a ten-minute walk to the main strip and beach, with bars, restaurants, shopping and Blue Port Mall nearby. There were plenty of sunbeds, a main pool, a small pool and a good play area for children. Thanks to Eddy and Abdul, who looked after us, and the other staff were friendly too. The room was an average size and had a kettle, fridge and hairdryer, but no sachets for the kettle. Breakfast was poor, with only four hot items, and the dining hall needs refurbishing. Food could be ordered during the day, but the prices added up: about £9.50 for cocktails, £4 for beer, £3.50 for soft drinks, £9 for children's meals and £12-15 for other dishes. Air conditioning cost £40 for the week, payable on the spot, and the safe key was another £10. It definitely didn't feel like a four-star hotel, and I felt I was paying London prices. There's no all-inclusive, full-board or half-board option. Still, we had a nice visit, though I'd consider somewhere else next time.

I was pleased with the room, and having a balcony was nice. The pool facilities were great, and I miss the staff already. Sedef and Ahmed at reception, Orhan at the bar, the breakfast waiter from an African country, and Adnan and his wife from Elit Jewellery were all exemplary. I'm David, or Davud, and whatever other guests experienced, my own review isn't going to be negative. I can highly recommend the hotel. God bless you all!
