The mansion is right in the center and has a lovely historic feel. Sleeping there in summer was very pleasant, though I imagine winter could be freezing. The breakfast tasted good, but there was so little of it that anyone with a hearty appetite might still be hungry. The drinking water charge felt ridiculous and made no sense to me. We asked whether tap water was safe to drink and were told no, that they had drinking water. We drank ours, then on the way out were unexpectedly told to pay for it. We paid and left to avoid an argument. The location is good, but the skimpy breakfast and water charge hurt the place's reputation.

Mudurnu was so lovely when we visited last year that we promised ourselves an overnight stay on our next trip. This year we came back excited and picked Keyvanlar Mansion after reading the reviews. I brought my family, and regretted that choice all night. The room smelled like a toilet, and I could feel the bed's metal bars in my back. We had hoped to shower and start the trip feeling clean, but we were so worried about touching the bathroom walls that we avoided showering and even washed our hands in the toilet area. Breakfast was bad too: a thin slice of cheese each that we couldn't eat, olives, pastries that were also inedible, fries and jam. Tea and fried eggs came 15 minutes later. Once the tea was gone, you had to go into the kitchen and refill it yourself. Mudurnu itself is wonderful and worth seeing. Before booking this mansion, though, think twice, or at least look at the rooms and bathroom first.
