Diplomat Hotel

The restaurant downstairs smelled mouthwatering when we arrived, and the meals we had there lived up to it. The staff were attentive to detail and made us feel at home, not like visitors just passing through. This cozy, quaint place was exactly what I hoped to find in an authentic Turkish Mediterranean town, the kind of hotel you read about in novels. I hope to come back and stay in their suites across the street. My body has become sensitive to where I sleep lately, so next time I'll bring my own soft pillow. I'm already missing Turunç.

At the time of this review, in May '25, there was a new block called Diplomat Suites across the road from the hotel. The self-catering apartments looked beautiful and had good facilities, but they weren't fully finished and still needed more attention to detail and work. The main entrance stairs had no handrails and the steps were slippery. The bakery/cafe wasn't operating yet. Building work was noisy, though it was expected to be over by the end of May '25. Buyer beware! The hotel's food was great, with what I'd call a modern Turkish style.

Breakfast was buffet style, with good quality food and filtered coffee. The rooms were fairly clean, and sound insulation was decent even with a karaoke place and live music bar across the street. The noise stopped at 12. The hotel's beach was also decent: the water was clear, though the entrance was rocky. You need to bring your own towels. The tap water was mildly salty, though it seems to be like that throughout Turunç. They only provided shampoo, so shower gel and maybe slippers would have been useful, and it would be nice if the hotel offered beach towels. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend the place and would come again.

We only went for lunch, but liked the food so much we came back for dinner the next day. It was our favorite place to eat in Turunc by far. The waterfront setting was perfect for people watching, and the service was great with friendly staff. It was a bit off season, so the atmosphere was wonderfully quiet and relaxed. We wish we'd stayed here too.
