Blue Star Hotel

I’d paid in advance for a deluxe room, but was mistakenly given a basic one. When I pointed that out, the receptionist handed me the deluxe room keys, then said I couldn’t use the room until after 4:00. She refused my card and wanted cash, and wouldn’t even let me call the manager. I found her extremely rude and unprofessional, so I left despite having already paid. This was completely unacceptable. Management needs to train staff in customer service and make sure guests get what they paid for.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. The room was tiny for a deluxe, so small my 28-inch suitcase wouldn’t lie flat on the floor. I tried shifting the bed, but it was nailed down. I ended up taking the chair and mini fridge out from under the desk just to barely open my case. The bathroom was worse. Its drain was at the highest point of a floor sloping away from it, so shower water pooled and overflowed within a minute. I nearly flooded the room on my first night and had to mop up the mess myself. The towels felt unclean, and several shampoo and body wash bottles had broken seals. Some looked like they’d been deliberately diluted with water. It left me feeling that hygiene and quality control weren’t priorities. They also forbid outside food and drinks, a policy I’ve never encountered in another hotel. We were given four complimentary water bottles for the whole stay. Two were already expired, and the other two were due to expire in a month. Some staff were outright unpleasant. The older man at reception seemed indifferent and licked his finger before touching my passport, which was disgusting. At breakfast, the bar staff were openly rude and unprofessional, acting as if guests were a burden. Almost every other part of the stay fell short. Skip this hotel, you’ll thank yourself later.

All 52 of us have the going-home blues on our last day. Our second eldest daughter got married here in Turkey last week, and our son-in-law and his family are amazing. The hotel is stunning, and the owner, his wife, and their children are first class and very hands-on. The bar staff were amazing and such fun to be around. Thank you all so much for your love and hospitality. We’ll definitely be back with the family for the kids’ anniversaries xxxxx

Getting around was easy, whether we wanted the beach, markets, or main street. We loved the hotel: the view was amazing, the team welcoming, and everything super clean. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the pool was clean without being too crowded. Our room was lovely, especially the balcony view.
