Sugar Beach Club

I didn’t stay here, but visited for a few days. The cove is beautiful, with a sandy beach and really comfortable sun loungers. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food was delicious.

The location is beautiful, but it felt overpriced compared with nearby hotels. Of our five nights, two were ruined by extremely loud music from surrounding rooms along the resort boundary. The music was loud enough every night to keep us awake. Staff admitted there was a problem but offered no real fix, just 10% off our dining bill. It might be fine as a daytime beach club, but I wouldn’t choose it for a peaceful holiday or a family stay. Don’t book here if you want a restful night’s sleep.

The lagoon was easy for the kids, with no big waves or sudden drop-offs, and the room was immaculate. Housekeeping were friendly and available. We spent a week here as a family, and the setting was amazing and very tranquil. There was plenty of variety at the restaurant, and the food was very good. Tarik, the food and drink manager, and the team were superb, attentive without being pushy. I tried all the daily cocktails, and the bar staff really know how to make a great one. I’d highly recommend Sugar Beach Club to my friends and family.

I went twice to use the beach facilities and didn’t stay in the accommodation. The bar and restaurant area were very good, and staff were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of them around the sunbeds taking food and drink orders. A few times the wrong order arrived, which wasn’t the end of the world, but got a little frustrating when it happened more than once. There was litter on the beach and in the water, especially paper cups and used cigarette butts. Cigarette ends were scattered all along the beach and in the water, and I also found a used nappy at the water’s edge. Watch out for some sharp rocks when walking into the water. I hired a pedal boat for about £20 an hour, easily rented from the club lifeguard.
