Sunshine Holiday Resort

The bar staff were amazing, but the rest of the stay was awful. The food was the same every day, and nothing seemed clean. I looked into my drink glass and couldn't bring myself to drink from it. Housekeeping and another man carrying a toolbox tried to enter my room while I was in the shower. When I asked what they were doing, they said nothing. I know what you were doing 😡. I've stayed in lots of places, and this was the worst. I don't mind a cheap place, and it may suit a single person or a couple who aren't fussy. Don't bring your kids, though, they'll hate the food. This is a 2-star hotel, and this may last yr 2025.

The pool and outdoor areas were clean and looked after, and the staff were friendly and genuinely tried to help. The restaurant manager made us feel welcome, and the spa manager was lovely too. Those were the bright spots. We were three people squeezed into a tiny room, with a very small balcony and the smallest bathroom I've ever seen. There was a bad smell that never went away, so we had to spray the bathroom before showering. For a hotel listed as 4 stars, arriving to find it like this was really disappointing. The food was the biggest problem. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all freezing cold, even though they sat in heated caddies. It didn't matter when we went down, it was still cold. I don't agree with the reviews calling it delicious. The room was tidied rather than properly cleaned. They put the same sheets back on the bed, and didn't clean the sink or sweep the floor. Maybe that sounds picky, but I like things clean and food hot, and those are basic expectations for me. I won't be returning, but thanks for having us.

The room had no working Wi-Fi, just access in the lobby and restaurant. Cleaning was very basic, and the bed had one thin sheet over the mattress plus a dirty blanket that looked as if it hadn't been washed in ages. We asked for another sheet. The shower also floods the whole bathroom, so you end up standing in water. The food was mediocre and seemed to be reheated leftovers served over several days. When five busloads of students arrived, the buffet was gone in ten minutes: no plates, no food, just chaos. Those of us already staying there were shocked and frustrated. Staff shrugged when we complained, as if there was nothing they could do. The facilities are run-down and poorly maintained. They also sell “official” tours for twice the price of booking directly, so arrange things yourself if you want to save money. Maybe the hotel had better days once, but the structure is decaying, management is poor, and staff seemed untrained. If you care about comfort, peace, and your money, avoid it.

The food had a great range, and dinner often included barbecued chicken, döner, and other freshly grilled dishes. It was buffet-style, so queues could get long at busy times, but I thought the food was worth waiting for. I also liked seeing a staff member regularly sample it to check hygiene and safety. My son loved the mini disco, and there was entertainment every night. At the pool bar, people danced and mingled, which made it easy to meet other families and make friends. We had plenty of good company, though a few guests seemed keen on causing trouble. We kept to ourselves and enjoyed our holiday. The room was clean and practical, which mattered most to me since we only used it to shower, get ready, and sleep. There's no lift, so stairs may be an issue for wheelchair users, people with pushchairs, or anyone who finds them difficult. The area is hilly too. When I needed help with my luggage, reception quickly sent a young gentleman to carry it, which I really appreciated. There was also a handy shop on site for drinks, snacks, shoes, jewellery, and other bits. I was nervous about booking, but the welcome from the staff put me at ease as soon as we arrived. They were kind and went out of their way to help. One day, when I felt unwell with colitis, the restaurant manager noticed and made me a Turkish mocha without me asking. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Special thanks to Esra and Ismail, and to Irmak, the hotel rep, for all their friendliness and help. The hotel was a good fit for a budget trip if you're not expecting luxury décor. My son and I had a lovely stay, made happy memories, and would definitely come back.
