Konak Su Dalyan Hotel

The pool was easily the best part, and the staff were kind and always smiling. Breakfast was nothing special, but it was fine. Cleanliness matters a lot to me, and as someone allergic to dust I’m used to some holiday problems. This was much worse than usual. On arrival I had to clean the toilet myself, and although we tried the cleaning sign in different ways, they only came to clean on the first day. The room also had a stale smell and some furniture looked close to falling apart. The rooms are quite small, but that part was okay with me. Outside, the chairs by the bar were covered in cat hair, and the sunbeds weren’t very clean either. This hotel could improve a lot.

The room was roomy, though the balcony was tiny, just enough for one person to smoke or hang towels. We were only a five-minute stroll from the main part of town. Breakfast was a tasty, standard Turkish spread.

I liked the room-cleaning setup: you hang the request card on the door if you want it cleaned, and otherwise they leave you alone. No knocking and maids letting themselves in. My room wasn’t huge, but it was fine, and the bathroom was a decent-sized wet room. Breakfast was the usual Turkish fare I’d hoped for and enjoyed, with bread, honey, jam, yoghurt, eggs, olives, cucumber, tomato, cheese, cold meats, fruit, and more. Konak Su is about a 10-minute wander from the centre of town. I liked the walk as a way to burn a few calories, though if you’re heading out in heels you might want something more comfortable for the trip back. The pool area is attractive, and Bougainvillea hangs over the dining tables. The owner and staff were kind, helpful, and friendly to me. During the day I could hear a little traffic from my room near the front of the hotel and road. There were small gaps at the top and bottom of the balcony door, so a basic door seal could help. It was quiet at night, and I couldn’t hear the traffic elsewhere in the hotel. It’s a little oasis of calm, and I’d stay again.

Our accommodation has everything we need, and it’s peaceful and quiet, without beaches and loud noise. This was my first time in Turkey, and from what I’ve seen it’s a beautiful country. The people are warm, friendly, and funny, and the food is amazing. I’d come back or recommend it.
