Light of Apollon

We spent four nights at the villa with nine people and had a fantastic time. The pool was kept in good shape and cleared of leaves every day. Inside, the kitchen and outdoor BBQ setup were great, with a gas cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and kettle, and everything worked as expected. We also used the washing machine. The air conditioning in each room worked well and kept the villa at a steady temperature. Sliding mosquito screens were fitted on the back door and bedroom doors. The host was polite and helpful throughout. Since there were no guests booked for the night after us, he let us check in a few hours early and leave a few hours late. He also arranged several deliveries of 19-litre water tanks for the villa’s water cooler, at about £2 GBP per refill, much cheaper than buying small bottles at the supermarket. Getting into town meant either a walk of around 30 minutes or a local taxi. The fares were consistently fair, about £4 GBP each way, so we didn’t feel ripped off. Three or four friendly cats sometimes wandered into the garden and pool area. They were calm, didn’t bite or swipe at us, and seemed to know not to enter the villa even when the door was open. There wasn’t much to improve. A Bluetooth speaker would have been nice, along with some smart TV features beyond terrestrial channels. WiFi was fine for everyday browsing, usually around 8-12 Mbps download and 5-7 Mbps upload when we tested it. That may feel slow if you’re used to several hundred Mbps, but it stayed connected, handled all of us using it at once, and never needed a router reset. For remote work, it would probably be absolutely fine. We’d highly recommend the villa for a large family or group of friends.
