Sirehan Hotel Gaziantep

The historic setting in the heart of the old city made Sirehan Hotel feel like a calm, authentic base for exploring Gaziantep. I found it comfortable for a few days and would recommend it to people who enjoy history and atmosphere. The lobby is spacious, beautiful, and full of character, with traditional design that makes it feel more like a cultural landmark than an ordinary hotel. My room was cozy and generously sized, furnished in an old-style look, and the bathroom’s traditional touches added to the experience.

The hotel was clean and generally good, but the service and small details caused real problems. There were no toothbrushes or combs, and the shampoo they supplied was cheap and poor quality, so bring your own toiletries. The bigger issue was arranging a taxi at 2:00 AM. I asked the receptionist about the fare and was told $25. When the driver arrived, I checked whether there were extra fees and was told no. Then the receptionist talked with the driver in Turkish, which I couldn’t understand, and came back saying the price was $35. I felt taken advantage of, but at 2 AM I had no other option, so I agreed. Be careful when the reception books a taxi.

It’s a wonderful historic place to stay. When I asked to change rooms because my elderly parents have health issues, one of the receptionists was respectful, friendly, and helpful.

The breakfast setup was particularly disappointing: guests are sent down to the basement while the nicer area is used as a cafe and restaurant. The breakfast place itself wasn’t suitable at all. Also, the reception staff acted like robots. Because of its unique spot among the historic sights, lots of groups visit, which brings a lot of noise. Some rooms have no windows.
