Kiyi Bungalov & Cafe

The lakefront setting was fantastic for our three-night, four-day stay. We chose a room with a jacuzzi, and it was clean and worked perfectly. There were no problems with hot water, and the room and sheets were clean as well. The staff were helpful and always reachable when we called. It was a wonderful holiday :) I do think mosquito nets are needed on the bathroom vents and the room’s entrance door.

The friendly staff and management, along with the lovely lakeside location, were the only real positives for us. The facility had a lot of shortcomings, and I regret that our first bungalow holiday turned out to be a bad experience. We stayed in the first bungalow on the right as you enter. There was air conditioning downstairs and a fan upstairs, but the kitchen utensils were inadequate. The downstairs toilet had a sliding door with a broken mechanism, so it was hard to open and close. The upstairs jacuzzi bath had muddy water, which was awful. Some bulbs weren’t working; they replaced them after we mentioned it, but these things should be checked during cleaning between guests. There were lots of mosquitoes, so anyone planning to go should definitely bring repellent. The pool wasn’t heated, and the surrounding trees kept much of the sun off it, leaving the water cold. I cleaned flies and insects out of the pool myself, but while swimming, unexplained dirt kept coming from underneath it. They came once after we asked them to clean the pool, but the dirt continued to appear. There’s a shared social area on the pier that could be nice, but it’s neglected too. Breakfast was the only food option, and it was served at another bungalow facility next door.

The lakeside is lovely, and being near the center is convenient. The rooms have a fridge, tea, plates, and glasses, but nowhere proper to put clothes, just a couple of bits of wood instead of a wardrobe. In the corner rooms, barbecue smoke from the tea garden next door filled the room at night, so sitting by the door wasn't possible. Noise from families in the back also made it hard to relax in the front room. We spent the night fighting mosquitoes near the lake, and the pool was unheated, so we couldn't use it. No one helped us settle in or checked on us; we let ourselves in and left on our own. Breakfast was good, though we went to the nearby resort for it. We came away feeling that our days were wasted and wouldn't stay here again.

We arrived, stayed, and left without anyone in charge or any real service. Smoke and conversation from the barbecue by the tea garden drifted indoors. Someone checked the pool once on the first day, then nobody came by again. I wouldn't recommend it.
