It was fine.

We booked four nights for a holiday, but they insisted on receiving payment for all four before we’d even seen the guesthouse. On principle, we sent payment for one night only. When we arrived, there wasn’t a bed for our child, so we left our things in the room and came back that night. The double bed had a badly sunken side and a stained sheet, and it was too saggy to sleep on. They’d put a single duvet cover on it, and the bedding smelled dusty. For our eight-year-old daughter, they’d laid a thin piece of foam, about 3 cm thick, over two wooden pallets like the ones used at vegetable markets. It was hard as iron. We couldn’t sleep in the adult bed or get our child settled, and everything was dusty. The toilet sink was tiny, the seat was broken, and the flush was broken and leaked all night. We decided to move elsewhere the next morning. There was no one around when we went to check out, and no reception desk. We sat at a place across from the hotel; about 20 minutes later, the woman running the guesthouse arrived. She acted as if nothing was wrong and demanded payment for the remaining three nights, even though we’d paid for one and regretted even that. When we mentioned the stains, she said they’d given us a clean bed and we could do what we wanted with it. About the sagging mattress, she rudely said she’d bring a new one if we paid for three more days. When we asked whether you could make a bed from a wooden pallet, she said it was enough for a child. We also told her no one had been there when we checked out, and she accused us of leaving as if we were running away, then demanded payment for the nights we hadn’t stayed. After all that, we understood why they wanted the full four nights paid in advance. Pay, go, regret it, and don’t expect your money back.

We stayed on August 29th. The place is close to the center, but felt deserted, with no one looking after us, and it wasn’t very clean. The air conditioner smelled awful, and the noise was unbearable. Early in the morning, tractors passing by made it sound as if the hotel was about to collapse. In the evening, noise from the cafe and winery across the street added to it. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you have no other option.

The owners are such lovely, attentive people. If you visit Şirince, you should stay here. Thanks so much for everything.

For the price, it’s a really good choice. Mr. Aykut, the owner, is especially nice. I recommend it.
