Otel Olba

You can walk to the market from this magnificent beachfront hotel in Taşucu. It’s about 10 km from the town center, in what I think is the Mediterranean’s most beautiful town.

The rooms were filthy and awful, and we were so unhappy with them that we planned to leave during the night. The hotel uses the public beach, with no umbrellas or other facilities. There are also an unbelievable number of mosquitoes, though I blame that on Taşucu rather than the hotel. Being close to the sea is its only redeeming feature. In short, don’t stay here.

You can walk straight from the hotel to the beach, which is its one advantage. The sea stays calm until noon, but gets very rough in the afternoon, and the powerful waves make swimming hard to enjoy. I also found the breakfast inadequate.

The beach is right across the street, the one good thing about the place. My rooms, though, were dirty and badly kept. I had to switch twice, first because the air conditioner was broken, then because the bed was broken. Breakfast was pitiful, with almost no options, and there was less each day. When we asked for milk, they just said they had none left instead of telling us politely. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.
