The host was really helpful and took me for a walk around the area when I arrived. There were three single beds in the room, all to myself. It was quiet and relaxing, just what I needed after traveling, and the bed was clean and comfy. The place is close to the town center, in a lovely old building with a nice view and an old-world feel. I liked it, though the shower wasn’t so good.

Elif was a wonderful host who went out of her way to help. I was late back from a tour and she let me check out at 10 pm, without charging me for nearly a whole extra day. I was at fault for overstaying, but she didn’t ask for anything extra. No other hostel host has ever done that for me. Thanks so much, Elif. Elif’s is halfway up one of Trabzon’s many hills, so be ready for a climb. But tired, sweaty travelers get a warm welcome from Elif, who’s a host, storyteller, and local guide all at once. The website calls it 'Adalante', though it feels more like ‘Elif's Place’. It’s a handy base for exploring nearby, and her laminated map is useful when you need advice. The beds were super comfortable, breakfast decent, and the location good if hills don’t bother you. My one complaint is the price, around €20 a night, which felt steep for this part of Turkey.

A great hostel in Trabzon. The owner makes you feel at home and will help with anything. The rooms and toilets are clean, and breakfast is very good.
