Motel 61

The room was cold, dirty, and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The heating didn’t work properly, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The only good thing I can say is that the service person was very helpful.

A really bad hotel. There’s no AC, things keep breaking, and the room is on the 6th floor with no elevator.

The room itself was spacious, and the hotel is handy if you need the Forum or bus station. But finding it is tricky, since it sits among garages and auto repair shops and at first you might think you’re staying in one. There’s no elevator to the 5th floor. Inside, the bathroom is tiny, with just a shower head on the wall between the sink and toilet. The furniture is new, but the old walls and renovation are in poor shape. The air conditioners are old and barely work. The profile photo must be from when the hotel first opened, because now the place feels dusty and abandoned.

The apartment was spacious for the price, with several separate bedrooms, a living room, and AC in each room. We found it very clean, and the staff were friendly and spoke Turkish, English, and even Russian. They really tried to help and made the stay comfortable. Getting around was easy. There’s a bus stop nearby, the bus terminal is 1 km away, and a bus to Lake Uzungol leaves just a few hundred meters from the aparthotel. Trabzon Forum, one of the biggest shopping centers on the Black Sea coast, is across the street. The airport is also next to the aparthotel, which is convenient for travelers. From here, you can get around the city and travel to other parts of Turkey or Georgia. A couple of things could be better: there’s no elevator to the fifth floor, the restrooms need coat hooks, and the shower is combined with the toilet. Still, we had a pleasant, comfortable stay. I’d happily come back and recommend it to other travelers.
