Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Trabzon

The location, breakfast, and view from the bed were all nice. Some staff, though, were very disrespectful, and management needs to improve how they handle situations. Staff training would help. I’m sure the hotel could be the best. All the best 👍👍

The sea view was lovely, and it was quiet, elegant, and comfortable. Breakfast was great. The pillows should be improved, with some softer ones.

After using the spa, I raised my rating. Mr Akdeniz sent us a fruit basket, thank you, and the spa staff tried hard to accommodate us even though they didn’t speak English. The massage was very good, and the dry sauna was hot enough. I think the wet sauna should be refurbished. The music by the pool was excellent too. There were plenty of problems during the stay, though. At reception, the staff seemed untrained, and one receptionist had to ask another how to use the system to give us a room. When we asked for a sea view upgrade instead of a city view, they said the hotel was full without checking. We found rooms available on other platforms, so I guessed they preferred paying commission over taking the profit. At the restaurant terrace by reception, we asked if the restaurant was open and got sent to the club restaurant one floor down instead of being told we could order there. The menu said PORTERHOUSE steak, but the photo showed the T-BONE I was given. Nobody asked how I wanted it cooked. It was thin, under 1 cm, and like charcoal on a plate, especially for the price of a properly cooked porterhouse. The other dish was satisfactory, but they also brought the wrong order. I paid only for what I ate. The waitress didn’t know how to use the POS, so I ended up changing money. Senior staff were there but didn’t seem to care, and later I saw them hanging around by the pool. There was a clear lack of attention around the pool, including from senior staff who should have been doing basic checks. A wheel from a sunbed was lying there, with a screw nearby that I circled. A shoe sticker was stuck firmly to a table, probably for days. A plastic cap and label were beside a bottle in another photo. The supervisor picked up the bottle, saw the other rubbish, and left it there without sending anyone to clean it. The bar had just one guy working. He said he didn’t have espresso for a cappuccino, which I thought was a five-star hotel answer. I got Turkish coffee instead. It tasted different from what I’m used to. Later I gave him a 200TL incentive and asked for a beer, but it never came. This rating is for a 5-star hotel, where you expect a certain level of everything, in the same league as Ritz, Hilton and Marriot. Unfortunately, the location isn’t ideal for a hotel, under the airport takeoff route and next to the highway.

The price struck me as a little high compared with similar hotels in Trabzon, and longer stays could be more affordable. The luxury and facilities do justify some of the cost, though. The hotel sits by the Black Sea, with lovely sea views from many rooms. It’s a large, modern property that was beautifully maintained, with spacious gardens, a big outdoor pool, and a private beach area. My room was comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The balcony made mornings special, and I liked the large bathroom and cozy bed. The spa and wellness facilities were a real highlight after exploring the city. There are several restaurants and a breakfast buffet with lots of fresh choices. Reception staff were friendly, and check-in went smoothly. I had a wonderful stay at Ramada Plaza Trabzon. It’s a fantastic choice if you want comfort, good service, and a resort-style stay in Trabzon, as long as you’re prepared for the higher rates.
