I stayed at this hostel for two nights. The owners were friendly and shared information and recommendations about things to do nearby. The pillow was very hard, and the upper beds had no curtains. On the second night, some guests came back around midnight, switched on the light, and started drinking and talking loudly just outside the bedroom with the owners. At 1:30 a.m., I went out to ask for earplugs. The owner asked if I wanted a drink, so I repeated, "No, can I have earplugs?" They gave me some and asked whether they were being too loud. I said I couldn't sleep and went back to bed, but the noise continued. At 2:30 I went out again and told them they were still too loud right outside the bedroom. They went to bed after that. If you need to sleep at night, I can't recommend this hostel.

A little hidden gem, with lots of cats around the village and a sea view on a clear day. It's not far from Chenggong Town, and a nice place for a solo break or a rest stop for backpackers cycling through.

Moonlight Blessing Guesthouse is in an Amis tribal village. We arrived on the final day of the village harvest festival and were lucky to try some delicious local food! 👍 The guesthouse's no-menu meals were unforgettable too. Grandmothers made every dish with seasonal ingredients, many grown in their own fields. I've stayed at guesthouses and hostels all around the island, and this is definitely one I'll return to when I'm in eastern Taiwan. ✨

The aunt and uncle were both so kind. One came from Miaoli and the other from Tainan, and they moved to the indigenous village decades ago. The aunt ran a general store and was friendly with the local residents. She seemed to know everyone, young and old, had a tribal language certificate, and made tribal clothing. I wanted to buy something from her, but sadly she couldn't find it. She also wished me luck finding my other half soon. Thank you, Auntie! 🩷 I hope you both stay healthy forever! 🩷🩷
