Chiayi Guanzhi Hotel

The room was spacious and cozy, and the price was reasonable. Breakfast and afternoon tea were included. It’s somewhat far from the old town, but there are fast food places across the street. The hair dryer could be upgraded, and that would make the place even better.

The room was roomy and clean, and the staff were friendly. It was quiet around the hotel, with a 7-11 nearby, and getting to the train station by car was quick. Walking into central Chiayi from here would be awkward, though. They didn’t provide toothbrushes or bottled water, so we had to refill the pitcher at the hallway dispenser.

We were especially happy with the service. Housekeeping was kind and attentive, and the front desk asked about our plans each day so they could time the room cleaning. The little laundry room on the second floor has two Panasonic washers with drying functions, which came in handy. Wi-Fi was fast, and having a network for each room plus earplugs beside the bed were thoughtful touches. We stayed three nights in March 2025 at Chiayi Guanzhi Hotel, in two Business Twin Rooms. The rooms felt spacious and comfortable, with wooden floors and industrial-style walls. The bathroom had a tub and a large walk-in shower, and the strong water pressure was lovely after hiking at Alishan. Afternoon tea is served from 2 to 6 PM on B1/F, where there are books and magazines in a cozy space. Breakfast is there too, from 7 to 10 AM, in the same spacious, pet-friendly area. There was plenty to choose from, the dishes varied a little each day, and I especially liked the flavorful oden (Japanese stew). Getting around was easy: Chiayi Train Station is about a 10-15 minute taxi ride away, around 125 NTD, and Starbucks, McDonald’s, and KFC are across the road. We arrived before check-in and reception let us know about the afternoon tea. Chiayi Guanzhi Hotel worked out really well for our visit and as a base for nearby places like Alishan.

Conveniently located, with a barbecue restaurant on one of the floors. The hotel has plenty of parking, a small gym, self-service laundry, a party room, and spaces for small events. Breakfast was extensive and well prepared. The rooms feel fairly new, were clean, and had a good supply of toiletries. One of the nicer hotel options in the city.
