A lovely B&B in a beautiful natural setting, just off the main road to Alishan, with good off-road parking. The owners were helpful and knew the area well. Breakfast can be local or Western, and is available any time in the morning. There's also a great BBQ restaurant about a 20-minute walk away.

Really nice place, and the breakfast was so good! If you're coming by bus, let them know so they can pick you up :)

A car is handy for getting around and driving up to the misty viewpoint. The hosts are warm and friendly, and the place itself is beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by nature.

Breakfast was the best part for me: a generous spread of congee and side dishes, plus two pieces of toast and coffee or tea. The owners were friendly too. Still, I didn't feel the room was worth the price. I booked a four-person room on the third floor, and it was cramped with almost no room for four people. The bathroom had a shower curtain separating the wet and dry areas. The stairs between the second and third floors are really steep, so anyone older or with mobility issues should take care. The view from the window wasn't very open, probably because the place sits in a mountain valley. The area is mostly residential, with limited places to eat. In the evening, the only place to walk seemed to be the lawn by the parking lot, which is also the driveway for homes uphill, so watch for traffic. We had to drive 15-20 minutes to a nearby settlement for food. I'd been looking forward to visiting Alishan after a long time, but this trip disappointed me again. Coming back from Europe doesn't mean I don't appreciate Taiwan's scenery or want to travel here, but next time I'll probably go abroad. These are just my personal opinions. I hope they help others decide, and I also hope to give something back.
