H Resort

My wife only dipped her feet in the pool for a photo, but she ended up with a rash. The water clearly didn’t seem properly maintained, which is unacceptable. At checkout I had two large suitcases, and no one offered to help get them into the trunk. When I asked, the staff just shrugged it off as if it wasn’t their concern. Earlier, I’d parked and asked staff to call a buggy to take me back to the lobby. They said it would be there right away, but I waited eight minutes. Why ask if they’re going to leave you waiting? I also felt the staff treated me differently after hearing my Mandarin accent and realizing I wasn’t local. That’s why I’m writing in English. The attitude and lack of basic courtesy were really disappointing. H Resort in Kenting needs to improve its service.

I left happy, even though the location still isn’t ideal for the restaurants I like or the Kenting beaches I usually visit. I came in annoyed because my sister had booked it, but the welcome and service from the staff were so warm, better than at some five-star hotels. That included the drivers between the lobby and parking lot and the doorman. I hope they keep it up, because it really matters. The main pool was clean and lovely, and watching the sunset there was amazing. The kids’ pool could be cleaned more often. I wouldn’t call it dirty, but it could be better. Our room was clean and not too old, though the soundproofing wasn’t great. I could hear my nephew screaming from three rooms away, and wondered if my family might have a tenor someday. The buffet food was well prepared and cooked, but there weren’t many choices. More options would help if they have more international guests. I’d also have liked more things displayed in English and a few more staff who can communicate in English. Thanks.

At night, a sound like an air conditioner running kept coming from somewhere, even after we turned off the one in our room. We were on the eighth floor, and it affected our sleep. I asked the woman at the lobby desk whether early check-in was possible and how to reach the beach across from the hotel. She checked with her supervisor, then two male supervisors came over. One spoke English and gave me helpful directions. The other warned me that if I walked to the opposite beach and had an accident, the hotel would have nothing to do with it.

The kids had a great time at the playground, where a staff member watched them, and the pool was amazing too. We loved the beautiful hotel and its views. There was live music from 8 to 9:30 at night, with free beer and snacks. Adults and kids both had a fabulous time, and we’ll definitely return!
