The comfortable first-floor common area has a mahjong table, and pets are allowed. A thorough cleaning would make the stay much better, though. My upgraded six-person room was roomier and had an upstairs terrace, but there was lots of dust and the floor was dirty. I’d first booked a four-person room, then paid extra to change because it smelled musty. The bathroom also seemed a little old, and hot water took a while. The bed was on the soft side. During the season of strong mountain winds, the noise at night was incredibly loud, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. Oasis and Dahu B&B have the same owner. I stayed at Oasis B&B, about a 7-10 minute drive from the city center. There’s a parking spot out front, but if you return late you have to park outside and walk in.

The living room and kitchen are on the first floor, and there’s mahjong there too. We paid a little over 2,000 yuan a night for a mountain-view room for two on the second day of Lunar New Year. On arrival, the room looked mostly clean, though under the bed was quite dirty. The bed itself was clean, and the TV had all the channels I wanted. The bathroom’s small tiles gave it a retro look. Water pressure from the showerhead was modest but enough for me, and hot water came quickly with an adjustable temperature. Amenities were limited to a large towel, toothbrush, and toothpaste. The hair dryer was weak and took a while to use. If driving, there’s a spot outside the entrance or a large plaza across the road, though its sign says parking costs 100 yuan per trip.

It’s generally a good place for a reasonable price, and slippers are provided. There’s no refrigerator in the room, so you need to use the one on the first floor; that’s also where the water dispenser is. Getting luggage up and down the stairs could be tough on higher floors. The guesthouse is in an alley where passing other cars can be awkward, so drive carefully.

The room had fleas, and cleanliness and hygiene management need improvement. The first-floor drain was clogged and bubbled a lot. Sound carries badly too, with first-floor noise clearly audible from the fourth floor, though that isn’t a building ownership issue. There’s no dedicated parking, only street parking, and no spin dryer, which would be useful if you swim in Kenting often. On the plus side, there’s an oven, induction cooker, plates, and other items on the first floor. The room looks like the pictures and has nice decor.
