Pipe House Hostel

I expected a different kind of guesthouse and was really disappointed once we checked in. The room smelled damp and musty, with spiders, geckos, and little bugs showing up often. The air conditioner wouldn't get cold and couldn't be adjusted downward. I tried taking the batteries out and resetting it, but that changed nothing. I called the owner, who said he'd only found out that day that the remote was broken and told us to try removing the batteries and resetting it. We explained we'd already done that and it still wasn't cold, but he said the remote was temporarily broken and he couldn't fix it. Why wasn't this mentioned when we checked in? The curtains felt damp too. When we complained, he blamed the thunderstorm the day before and said nothing could be done. It felt like the problem was left to the guests, and his attitude was extremely poor. At night there were stray cats, and trucks passing by were noisy. Anyone wanting to try the place should be prepared.

Our family trip went really well, and we'll definitely come back. The owner patiently answered all our questions before check-in and suggested lots of attractions before we left. There's barbecue, karaoke, water play, mahjong, and play facilities for children, so there's plenty for families to do. The themed rooms are very clean, though on the small side, so don't bring too much luggage. We stayed in a piped room and it didn't feel cramped; we slept comfortably. The bathroom is a little small and some distance from the room, but the facilities feel comparable to a hotel and are distinctive. The kids loved bath time.

Once, while traveling around the island, we called the landlady very late to ask if she had a room. She took us in at the last minute, and we were so grateful. Kenting Pipe House Paradise is a one-of-a-kind guesthouse, with cute rooms made from converted cement pipes that have a bit of a camping feel. The colors in the rooms are really vibrant.

The breakfast was delicious and had plenty of variety, and the bedding was very comfortable. Though it's beside the road, the noise didn't keep me awake. Each little pipe house has its own theme and careful decorations. What surprised me most was the ceiling: after the lights went out, the same pattern became a glow-in-the-dark scene. The rooms are small but offer different experiences, and I'd like to try another theme if I get the chance. Just keep in mind it's not ideal if you're particular about accommodation: the bathroom and toilet are separate, the space is limited, and the environment feels somewhat outdoors.
