The Carlton Hsinchu

There are lots of places to eat nearby, though getting here from the train station takes a bit of a walk. I stayed two nights in a twin room, and both the room and bathroom were huge. The bed was firm, just how I like it. Downstairs, the 24-hour lounge has coffee and tea, snacks, and a place to refill your water bottle. There’s also free laundry and a dryer on level 12. The receptionist was really friendly. Great hotel, I’d recommend it.

The shower was the one part that could be easier to use. The pressure felt a little weak, and since hot and cold water come from separate spigots, getting the temperature right takes a while. Aside from that, we had a good stay at the Carlton. The lobby has self-serve drinks and snacks at any hour, and the staff were friendly. It’s handy for exploring Hsinchu’s North District, with plenty of local food nearby. Our room and bathroom were very spacious and clean, and the wood decor felt calming. We liked the firm bed, too. There’s free laundry on the top floor with washers and two dryers, plus workout equipment and a pool table.

The room was clean and practical, with a good layout, though the design feels a bit dated, maybe early 90s. The location was excellent, and HsinChu City God Temple is surprisingly easy to get to. We had a lovely two-night stay here as a family of four. The reception staff were warm, and they even set out free coffee and barley tea by the lift lobby. The washing machines and dryer were free, clean, and well cared for, with both liquid and powder detergent provided. We worked out and played pool while the laundry ran. When the toilet gave us trouble on our second night, reception quickly offered us the room next door to sleep in while our belongings stayed in the original room, since we were checking out the following day. That service really impressed me. Thanks again. I’d stay at this lovely hotel next time we’re back.

I spent a week here for work. There’s laundry, a gym, a pool table, and table tennis for downtime. They also had happy hour on Monday and Thursday. Breakfast was above average. I’d come back.
