Hualien Holiday Hotel

There’s a small gym on level 2 and a laundromat on level 5, plus free breakfast in the basement and coffee, tea, and snacks on level 1. The entrance looks small from outside, though the hotel itself is quite large. Our room had one vertical window, and it couldn’t be opened. The bathroom was generous in size, with a nice big tub. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were a bit too soft. A good, comfortable stay overall, even if it isn’t luxurious.

We were doing a round-island cycling tour, so being able to leave our bikes in the lobby and use the on-site laundry was a real help. The hotel has friendly staff, a good breakfast selection, and nice rooms. By Taiwanese standards, I’d put it at four stars. It’s an easy walk to the city centre and the huge night market.

The breakfast had a delicious, wide-ranging spread, the best I had at any of my stays in Taiwan. My first room had some issues, but after I mentioned them, the staff moved me right away. The replacement room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and they did a lot to make my stay enjoyable. I had a wonderful time and would recommend this hotel.

The room was spacious and clean, and the toilet was clean too. The bed was comfortable, though the pillow was too flat. Breakfast is included, with a limited but okay range of food. I’d say this is a four-star hotel and it was alright, though I think it could use an upgrade or renovation. I really didn’t like having the bathtub and shower together, and the shower head looked very old.
