For the price, the quality is reasonable.

The room was clean and comfortable, though this isn’t the place to choose if you expect a five-star hotel. It feels more like staying in a home. I don’t have much experience with guesthouses, and I was worried about bringing an elderly relative to Hualien for medical treatment. The host family’s positive energy helped put me at ease. With the strange tidal bore making Hualien feel cut off like an island these past few days, the whole family, adults and children, kept checking what I needed. It was like Doraemon producing whatever I asked for. They were quiet and polite and wanted me to feel at home. They even suggested I apply for housing subsidies because they were concerned I might not have enough money for my relative’s treatment. Thank you to everyone at Shiguang Time Guesthouse. Your warmth and energy have made me believe again in the endless possibilities of this world.

The owner made an elegant look with mosaic tiles, and the room was spotlessly clean. The one small downside was that the air conditioner was a bit noisy.

The landlady made our stay really enjoyable, and the busy area has lots of good food within walking distance. Our family and friends stayed together in the guesthouse for four days and three nights, with three double rooms, one quadruple room, and one quintuple room. The price was very reasonable, and we’d choose it again. She was welcoming, friendly, and gave excellent service. Even though the landlady also lived in the building, it didn’t bother us at all. It felt like home. She collects the trash so the rooms don’t smell. If you don’t want your bath towels changed, let her know, and she’ll just collect the trash. Since we were a big group, she set up the kitchen for us to drink and chat. There’s no air conditioning there, but there is a fan. The toilet’s water heater makes a loud knocking sound while heating, but it didn’t affect our stay. Thanks to the landlady for making the trip so pleasant.
