Railway Hualien Hostel

The guesthouse was clean and comfortable, and the owner kindly moved my husband and his friends into a four-person room so each volunteer had a bed. They had gone to Guangfu to help and called after seeing the owner offered lodging to volunteers there. We really appreciate the generosity, and hope to bring our children once Guangfu has recovered.

I was there from September 16th to 18th, and slept really well because the bed was comfortable. The rooms were spotless, as clean as a five-star hotel. The place felt homey, with a friendly and helpful landlady. It's right in the city center and has ample parking. Highly recommend it! 👍

I stayed several days and really appreciated how thoughtfully the hostess varied the breakfasts. She was very friendly, and the room was bright and clean. The train station is close by. I'd recommend staying here in Hualien.

The shower was the main problem for me: pressure was low, and the temperature kept shifting, so it was hard to wash comfortably. The guesthouse is beside the Zhongshan Road underpass, and drivers need to find their own parking. Rooms facing the road can get traffic noise, though that's hard to avoid. On the plus side, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the owner is very friendly and happy to suggest Hualien sights. She also asks what guests want for breakfast. It would help if everyone were reminded to keep their voices down at night so other guests aren't disturbed.
