The prices are very reasonable, so this is a great pick whenever I come to Hualien. You can tell the owner puts real effort into the business: the decor has its own character, and the rooms are laid out with guests' needs in mind.

Last night, the boss kept me from having to sleep on the street. I'm grateful to you, and to the enthusiastic Genesis Betel Nut owner and his family, for giving me the energy to go play in the mud in Ataomo today.

The rooms were tidy and comfortable, and the shared spaces have lots of thoughtful design touches. Big Bowl Bro is such a friendly, funny owner. My first booking fell during a typhoon, so I postponed it. When another typhoon hit during my second booking, he checked first whether I wanted a refund and even helped me apply for government subsidies. If you're coming to Hualien, I'd recommend Big Bowl B&B. It's under a 10-minute drive to Dongdamen Night Market and Ji'an Evening Market, with a breakfast shop right next door.
