Hotel Royal Chiaohsi

The head spa was nice, and the buffet was so good, with lots of variety and good quality. I also admire that the hotel hires seniors, which is a good example for the industry. Please keep it up. I stayed overnight on Sunday and was drawn in by the live piano music after my spa. I stayed to listen to 5-6 songs. The pianist was great, and the music felt healing. Thank you, I loved every one of them. I'm not sure whether the live music is available every day.

The mountain views from our room were amazing, and the surroundings were peaceful apart from the natural sounds of birds, insects, monkeys, and local dogs. Staff were thoughtful throughout our stay. When rain came and went while we were out by the hot springs, they quickly brought us umbrellas. They also made transport easy: we confirmed our pickup at the train station, they told us where and when they'd meet us, and they called on arrival. We could even get a ride into JiaoXi town. The hotel itself was a lucky find, with truly amazing service. For meals, there was a range of Taiwanese, American, and Japanese food at the breakfast and dinner buffets. Joanna carefully labeled safe dishes for someone in our party with an egg allergy, and did this for all 6 meals. We were grateful, and the food was delicious, well balanced, and not too salty or sweet. There are outdoor onsens and an open air spa, plus an onsen in the room. The water was refreshing and made us sleepy. We also enjoyed the essential hot oil pools, a foot soak pond where fish can feast on your feet, and the swimming pool. There’s a nice kids' room for babies through young kids, as well as billiards, ping pong, and air hockey. We realized after arriving that getting here directly from Taoyuan airport would be easy too: one bus for NTD$250 takes 1.5 hours to the bus station at Jiao Xi. We might do that next time.

My proxy was kept outside the hotel for 4 hours while being questioned about a dividend application, and as a result he was late to his meeting. The staff were the best part of our stay, always attentive and helpful. The rooms were beautiful and spacious, and the food was delicious, especially brunch at Zen. We look forward to coming back.
