The owners were friendly.

A spacious, comfortable room for four, good for a family, with a large sofa, TV, big bathtub, and lovely landscaping. The bed and pillows were soft, comfortable, and odor-free, and the tub's water was reliably hot. We heard no noise from next door and could barely hear people passing the door. Parking was easy, about 10 meters away, with space for 12 cars at the intersection outside. The price was very affordable, and the city center is only 1 km away. The air conditioning had a slight odor, and there was no mini-fridge in the room.

I usually book through a hotel, but this stay at Portley B&B was excellent. The bed and pillows were great, and the view was beautiful.

Breakfast was a Chinese-style buffet, unlimited, and definitely worth trying. My famously picky loved one ate two bowls of congee, and we shared several dishes. The hot spring vegetables were delicious, as were even the simple fried eggs. I highly recommend trying the hot spring vegetables and fruits in Jiaoxi. The guesthouse is near several Jiaoxi attractions, with souvenir shops, restaurants, and drinks all within walking distance. It feels away from the bustle but still convenient for town, and made for a relaxing, comfortable stay. The place is quite unique; it was renovated after my visit, so I can't say what the accommodations are like now, but the exterior was beautiful. Each room had a private hot spring tub about the size of one for two people, and the bed seemed to be king-size. I slept very comfortably, though with my loved one beside me, it was hard to fall asleep. Downstairs there's a living room counter and a pottery classroom, both distinctive features. Behind the guesthouse, the lotus flowers were bigger than your head and free to pick; at the time, they cost ten yuan each at the market. I heard you can barbecue on the rooftop, but you have to reserve and bring the ingredients.
