1933 Homestay

Having breakfast out on the terrace was such a peaceful start to the day. I booked in the off-season, and the B&B served a Kinmen-style meal. That kindness was typical of the stay. The owner asked about my plans and, when they heard I had no rental car and would take Taiwan Travel the next morning, offered to refund breakfast and drive me to the nearby bus station. 1933 B&B (Huang Tianyou Fanzi Cottage) sits on Ming Dynasty Old Street, just outside Kinmen City's north gate. The street faded after the General Military Headquarters moved to Houpu, but being away from the tourist crowds has helped preserve its old character. I'm really glad I chose to stay there on my Kinmen trip.

The room was small, but it had what I needed and was very clean. The landlady even let me use the washing machine, which was thoughtful. I accidentally booked the whole building, so I could use the shared dining table and refrigerator, and there were free tea bags and snacks too. The house is on a quiet old street and doesn't stand out much from the outside. The landlady was very kind.

The address listed is wrong: the actual place is Kinmen City, not Kinmen Town. It's 1933 B&B (Huang Tianyou's Fanzi House), No. 148, Kinmen City, Jincheng Township, Kinmen County, 893, China. There is a bus stop marked "Kinmen City" right beside it, served by routes 6 and 6A, which is handy. The room was quiet and clean. I arrived a bit late because of the incorrect address, but the owner helped me check in and explained the bus routes. For anyone needing the evening bus, the last route 7 bus for Kinmen City leaves Kinmen Station at 8:30 PM toward Shuitou, detours through Gugang on the return, and reaches the stop at 8:49 PM.

Very clean, with lots of thoughtful little touches. It's the former building of Kinmen's first Western medicine hospital, and not far from Kinmen city. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Kinmen.
