85 Sky City Hotel

The city view is amazing, and the hotel is close to a lot of great places, but the place is getting old and the hallways are dirty. It took a while to locate our reservation during registration, which was a bit complicated. The towels were changed, but the room wasn't cleaned. There are newer hotels nearby, though they don't have the same view. Finding the right rental office can be tricky because there are several, and registration is in the 12FL lobby. You also have to take two elevators to reach the rooms.

The room looked clean but wasn't comfortable, and the soundproofing was poor. We found a cockroach in the first room and asked to move. At first they didn't want to upgrade us, but they eventually gave us a considerably better room. The staff were polite, though I had to ask twice to get a receipt for the payment at checkout. I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was a comfortable size and had a small kitchen. For an affordable price, it's a good hotel, though the decor feels a bit old fashioned and you need to take two elevators to reach your room.

The main reason I'd give this place five stars is the spectacular city view. Make sure to book a room with a window for that, since some rooms face the huge atrium instead. The room was large and very nice for the modest price, a real bargain. As a foreigner who can't speak or read Chinese, I found the entrance and the right elevator hard to locate. Google only lists 95 Sky City under its Chinese name. Reception turned out to be on the 12th floor, in a space that looks like a shop or office. The staff member there spoke very little English, but check-in was simple and didn't take many words. Another elevator takes you up to the rooms on the 33rd floor.
