85 Sky Tower Hotel

One of Taiwan's coolest buildings. A sunset boat cruise gives you a better view from the water, and Don Burrito, the best Mexican food we've had in Taiwan, is just steps from 85 Sky Tower.

Kaohsiung's 85 Sky Tower is beautiful. Everyone should visit the city at least once.

Our room was on level 55, spacious, and had an amazing harbour view. You can choose a city view instead. The marble bathroom was large and had all the necessary amenities. We also used the gym and pool, though you need a cap for the pool. We appreciated being able to check out late, at 1pm. The tower has 85 levels and an observation deck on the 74th floor. It's also a hotel, with a few shops, a bar, and a restaurant. The staff weren't especially friendly at check-in, just efficient and routine, but the people helping us get cabs were the best. The light rail is a short walk away and goes to pier 2, and a station is also within walking distance.

You get an impressive look over the city from up here, and it's worth visiting when you're in town for a good overview of Kaohsiung. I just wish the observation deck had some outdoor space. The windows were a bit dirty, which made it hard to take proper photos.
