E-Da Skylark Hotel

I landed here after traveling by scooter when the weather turned rainy and cold. The place was clean and the people were friendly, though it had a very grand, formal look with marble and chandeliers. My room seemed recently renovated, with more modern faux wood flooring and furniture. It was clean unless you looked into the nooks and corners. There were lots of tour bus guests. Breakfast was a big buffet, but many items were bland. I did enjoy the yogurt and Nescafé. I paid about US$98 for the night. It turned out I could have stayed for US$106 at the neighboring Even higher class Royal Eda Hotel, but I'm not sure I'd have enjoyed it $8 worth more.

Chen Hui and Vivian were very friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent. The food was great, and we had a wonderful dining experience.

The room was so humid and dated, and even from the 7th floor we could hear everything happening in the lobby. The bed was awful too: thin mattress, springs you could feel, and a comforter barely large enough to cover the bed, let alone someone in it. There wasn't even a sheet, so part of you stays uncovered all night. We ended up buying our own blankets just to use the bed properly. Ridiculous.
