Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung

The room was clean and modern, with a very comfortable bed. We had a great selection at the breakfast buffet, including both Western and Eastern dishes. Staff were lovely and let us leave our bags early. We stayed on the 25th floor, and I’d say the deluxe room is worth the splurge. I’d highly recommend staying here and will definitely return next time we’re in Kaohsiung.

The room was roomy and neat, and I liked being able to choose from different pillows. From the hotel there were nice views across the mostly bungalow-style homes in Kaohsiung. It’s also handy for getting around, about a 15-minute walk from the main stations, with lots of shops close by. The shared facilities were pretty shabby, though. The reception area felt tiny and short-staffed, the gym had little equipment and much of it was rusty or broken, and the pool was so small that “children pool” seemed fitting. Most of the restaurants felt ordinary and poorly maintained too.

The pool was great, and the staff were so friendly and attentive that everything about the stay felt just right. The hotel was super clean and comfortable. It was my birthday when I checked out, and they even gave me a present, which was unbelievably nice. I’d happily come back and can really recommend the place.

The room was a good size and the location was great, and the buffet was nice. But the kitchen was no use for cooking because there wasn’t a pot or pan. Strangest of all, the kitchen had a shower in it. The staff weren’t very friendly either. They didn’t want to help us make dinner or massage reservations and kept telling us to just go.
