Hua Xiang Motel - Arena

I won't stay here again. The fridge was warm when I arrived, even though it was switched on, and the replacement used fridge the maintenance man brought in was still warm four hours later and the next morning. I couldn't store my things in it, so I cancelled the second night. Staff noise in the corridor outside my room woke me at 6am. The office staff were unfriendly and wouldn't show me the room before I booked. They showed me very nice room photos on a TV instead, but the room I got looked nothing like them. When I asked to change rooms, they refused.

For a local, this type of motel feels rather pricey.

The place is a little old, but staying there wasn't bad. What stunned us was someone trying to open our door and come in around 7 or 8 in the morning. Luckily, we had the room key. We were really taken aback.

The service was good, and the staff brought us two extra pillows within minutes when we asked, but the stay was awful overall. The AC couldn't be adjusted, there were cracks in the ceiling, and the sheets were made of some unknown fabric, with the bottom edge looking chewed up. The bed was large, but it seemed to be two single (or king) beds pushed together, and we could feel the gap between the sheets. The room had terrible soundproofing. We booked a business room online, though I'm not sure that's what we were given. The staff kindly helped park our car in the downstairs hallway. The catch was that if the car in front needed to leave the next day, we had to move ours. The door had a horn lock and chain. I won't stay at this hotel again when I come to Kaohsiung.
