Papo'a Hotel

I booked through Trip.com for my first stay here. The industrial-style room turned out to be surprisingly spacious, and I really liked the design. Check-in was easy: I followed the instructions and got the passwords for the main entrance and my room. There’s a pleasant shared area with complimentary coffee and tea until 10 PM. A nice stay.

The little lobby cafe and lounge serves free coffee, and there’s a small art gallery as well as coin laundry in the basement. They even supply the detergent. The hotel is right outside Kaohsiung Train Station, and our tidy room had a decent amount of space for what we paid. It seems to have been converted from older apartments, with a simple, modern industrial look in the rooms and throughout the hotel. The bed and pillow were comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, the air conditioning worked well, and the shower had good pressure. The TV lost its channels a few times. We contacted the front desk and a staff member came right up to reset it, which was helpful and attentive. I’d recommend staying here and would come back on a future trip to Kaohsiung City.

It’s about a five-minute walk to Kaohsiung Station, so it’s easy to get around. The room was clean and perfectly adequate, though not especially big. They also leave complimentary snacks, a nice extra. A pleasant place to stay.

At first glance the hotel looked quite clean, with decent furnishings, though there was some wear and tear here and there. But during my one-night stay I spotted at least three mosquitoes in the room.
