The host has a great collection of records and was really kind about sharing the music. I’d love to come back. It’s a cozy traditional sanheyuan in Kaohsiung, with lovely countryside views.

The room has a green and red terrazzo floor and a few pendant lights. It used to connect the kitchen with the rest of the house, since the old San-Ho-Yuan is too large for a modern family. Mr. Jhong talked about the antiques, which belonged to his grandmother, while songs by Portuguese singer Dulce Pontes played from an old cabinet stereo. It all felt very harmonious.

Surrounded by farmland, this lovely old family house has been renovated into a guesthouse and really stands out. The landlord was friendly and clearly devoted to the place. The music room is fascinating, with a huge DJ collection.

A family whose artists have lived and worked in Taiwan for 25 generations share a beautiful way of life here. This is one of the most special places I’ve visited in the country.

The owners are so friendly, relaxed, and helpful. The traditional courtyard house feels secluded among the farms, but not lonely. A fantastic homestay.
