The lady owner was really helpful, and getting into town was convenient since it’s nearby. The only downside was that some of the furniture felt a bit old.

The room was fairly clean, the shower had strong pressure and was comfortable to use, and there’s a FamilyMart right beside the place. But the owner didn’t seem very attentive. They had emailed a week before our trip to confirm two adults and one child, then asked again at check-in in a doubtful tone. After that, they mostly ignored us, without much of the service enthusiasm we expected. It’s around 5 kilometers from the city center, with very little in the way of restaurants or attractions nearby. The surroundings felt quite desolate, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The owner was the most enthusiastic one I contacted while looking around before our trip, and was easy to reach whenever we had questions. We could pay in full on arrival without a deposit. The place is spacious, has an elevator and balconies in every room, and the owner lives upstairs if you need anything. There’s even a water dispenser by the second-floor elevator, handy for drinking water or making milk, and indoor mops are provided. Renting a car or scooter is available, and child helmets are supplied. The rental staff explained the precautions before we set off. With a car rental, the owner personally handles airport pickup and drop-off. Breakfast vouchers worth NT$70 per person are for the nearby McDonald's, and you can arrange breakfast with the owner ahead of time to avoid waiting there. Children under two also get the NT$70 breakfast voucher. A FamilyMart nearby is convenient late at night. For rental returns, scooters don’t need to be refueled, but cars do. There are some drawbacks. It’s about a 15-minute bike ride from the city center, and riding back at night means passing through a deserted area that felt a bit scary alone. The four-person room has a bunk bed, and there’s no housekeeping for longer stays, so you have to replace your own garbage bags. The refrigerator also wasn’t cold enough to chill boiled water or drinks. The owner is very nice, and that’s a big part of why I like guesthouses. They also offer whole-house rentals and explain everything clearly. The location being a little out of the way didn’t spoil our trip, and both the adults and kids liked it a lot. Renting a scooter or car with the owner includes round-trip airport transfers. I’ll come back to see the owner next time I visit Magong! 👍

We were lucky to find such a satisfying place for my first trip with friends. The room was spacious, and the shower pressure was great.
