The room was a bright spot: since it was low season, we were moved from a second-floor room to one on the ground floor with a private pool and outdoor hot spring. That was really nice. The restaurant was more average. The lobster tasted bland and was rubbery, and the beef was extremely tough on both days. The payment situation was much worse. We booked through booking.com and a hold was put on our card. A day before arrival, our card company flagged a possible fraud attempt because the same amount had been charged through Trip Advisor, and it blocked our card. At check-in, the front desk said everything was paid. We then stayed an extra night and paid with another card. We asked about the Trip Advisor charge, and after a lot of back and forth using Google translate, staff told us the day before we left that it was all sorted. But after we got home, we found the hotel had charged us again the day after checkout. Nobody had told us, and it’s hard to communicate on site because the reservations team is somewhere else. Update, 5/31/2025: I’ve lowered this to 2 stars. I can’t get in touch with them properly. I emailed and filled out their contact form. Apart from the response below in this comment, there’s been no interaction.

The villa is near the “Alangyi Historic Trail” and “Syuhai Grassland Recreation Area”, and the drive out here felt worth it for a peaceful break away from the busy city. We had a one-night stay with five meals, and our family really enjoyed it. The food was surprisingly good, especially eating among the trees or beside the pond and pool. The room was comfortable, the view beautiful, and the service and facilities were great. There’s a hot springs Jacuzzi in your own room, too. A lovely overnight stay with delicious food and a good location. I’d recommend it to anyone after a luxury experience that still feels natural and original.

A quiet, lovely resort with really good private hot springs. The fresh juice and coffee bar stays open 24 hours, and the fruit in Taiwan is amazing. The restaurant food was wonderfully fresh too, probably sourced locally. There’s also a big fishing pond, which is fun for anyone who likes fishing. Good for families.

We spent two nights here, and I loved how little there was to keep track of. You can swim, borrow fishing rods, or rent bikes for a ride, with no schedule to follow. I remember there being fewer than 20 rooms, so it never felt crowded with other resort guests. It’s a place to relax and be with nature. We also joined the indigenous midday trip to their sanctuary. Our guide knew so much about the plants, and the half-hour walk turned into a lesson I’ll remember. All the meals were fresh and healthy, maybe a little too healthy, though there was plenty to eat. And the baked goods were exceptionally yum. Definitely try them!

Even with rain all day, the crew still tried to provide all kinds of service for us. The food was nice, and non-alcoholic drinks were free around the clock. It was a very luxurious stay in the south of Taiwan, and I felt comfortable and at peace the whole time.
