Matsu 1St Hostel

I had a lovely three-night stay at Matsu 1 Homestay Matsu1Youth Hostel in January 2025. It wasn’t peak season, so I was alone the first night and another traveler joined for the next two. The sleeping areas had curtains along the long side, but each had a rectangular opening of about 40x50cm at the foot end, with no curtain over it. That meant there wasn’t complete privacy. It was fine with only two of us in the hostel, though I can imagine it feeling uncomfortable when the place is full. The manager or employee, I’m not sure which, gave me a thorough introduction at check-in to the hostel, its facilities, Nangan Nangan attractions, and transport. He later messaged me about which bus to take for my boat, then the next day told me my departure had been canceled due to bad weather. I appreciated how considerate that was. There was everything I needed: a common room with TV and books, plenty of showers and bathrooms, a washing machine and drying area, a kitchen space with a fridge, hot and cold water, and tourist brochures. The cozy interior was a comfortable spot to recharge after a day out sightseeing. Other than the privacy issue, I had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend it to anyone traveling to Nangan Nangan (:
