Giant Rich Hotel

We booked three nights but reluctantly stayed for only one. The place was simply uninhabitable, with a disgusting, stinky entrance and elevator, and the actual room was far worse than the website pictures. Service was very poor, and they didn’t care about cleanliness or guest comfort. They also refused to refund the other two nights. My worst hotel experience, and the worst one I’ve ever booked. 🤮🤢

The elevator and downstairs area were messy, and the room smelled unpleasant. The facilities were old and the soundproofing was really poor. I wouldn’t recommend staying there at all.

SanChong is a short distance from DaDaoCheng and DiHua St. The riverbank park is only a 10-minute walk away, and from there you can see the pier. Buses are the best way to get around: for NTD$15, they reach Taipei City center, Tamsui, Banqiao, and plenty of other POIs with no transfers or just a few. Just Google Map it. The surrounding area is worth exploring too, with the bustle of Taiwanese life and food. The receptionists and housekeeping were attentive, warm, and quick to respond, with the feel of Japanese business hotel hospitality. If neighboring guests got carried away with the facilities, reception dealt with it swiftly. The establishment is definitely on the well-behaved side. Rooms have a modern, simple, smart design and enough amenities, replenished daily or available on request. You can ask reception for hot, warm, or cold drinking water. In Taipei’s heat and humidity, I’d suggest putting a tea bag in your cold water bottle. We had a great stay. The main drawbacks weren’t really the hotel’s fault: the old building has thin floors, so you hear footsteps, and there are “public elevators.” That’s the result of the neighborhood’s “glorious days,” and while it’s improved over the last 20+ years, the building keeps getting older. The area is worth a visit and the establishment is worth a stay. Hope you enjoy the excursion as I did!

Good budget price and location, with a nice bathroom and a bedroom that has a desk. The only downside is that the elevator looks really sketchy.
